Album « Duets » de Paul Anka

C’était le 12 octobre 2009, les fans s’en souviendront longtemps. Sony mettait en ligne le titre « This Is It » sans se rendre compte qu’il s’agissait en fait d’un vieux titre des années 80 de Michael Jackson et Paul Anka qui fut exploité par Safire sur son album « I Wasn’t Born Yesterday » et dont le titre de la chanson était « I Never Heard ».

Si les fans se rendirent compte rapidement de l’origine de la chanson, son co-auteur, Paul Anka cria au scandale et l’équipe John Branca/John McClain admettaient alors leur erreur en annonçant que la moitié des droits seraient reversée à Paul Anka, en se confondant en excuses auprès du célèbre chanteur. « This Is it » figure à la fin du film/documentaire du même nom ainsi que sur l’album sorti à l’occasion.

Le 9 avril 2013, Paul Anka sort alors un album intitulé « Duets » qui se compose de duos parmis lesquels figure « This Is It » avec Michael Jackson. Il est à noter que naturellement, cette chanson a été retravaillée avec une orchestration différente de celle que l’on trouve sur la compilation This Is It.
