Cette chanson, co-écrite par Michael Sembello, était à l’origine l’une des 9 pistes destinées à être incluses sur l’album Thriller jusqu’à ce que la chanson « Human Nature » soit découverte et s’est donc retrouvée sur l’album à sa place.

A noter que si un extrait de cette chanson était apparue en bonus sur l’édition spéciale de l’album Thriller en 2001, la France pu l’avoir en entier sur la compilation King Of Pop sortie en 2008 et ce dans son édition collector 3CD. A cette époque, MJFrance fut choisi comme lieu de vote afin que les fans puissent choisir les chansons qui pouvaient composer cette compilation. Etant au courant que « Carousel » figurait parmi les titres disponibles, nous encouragions fortement les fans à voter pour ce titre et l’avoir enfin en entier sur un produit officiel.

Si le nom de Michael Sembello vous est familier, c’est parce qu’il est l’auteur et interprète du titre « Maniac » du célèbre film Flashdance. La chanson « Carousel » est également connue sous le nom de « Circus Girl » puisque ces paroles figurent dans la chanson.
